Recently having Physician recruitment needs arise, our client began the hard work of finding the right professional to partner with. Engaging with recruitment firms in the past was a dicey proposition for this client. They had been disappointed with numerous previous recruiting projects with outside firms for a variety of reasons. Mostly, the lack of emotional intelligence and empathy on the part of the consultant. This client shared that compassion and understanding were character traits required across the spectrum with this organization in order to “get it.” This required professional seasoning; time on the job; a consultant who was about more than just recruiting a doctor. This project was tailor made for the Arthur/Marshall consultant in charge.
She had over 16 years of experience in this consulting space. She not only had consulted in projects just like this in the past, she also had conducted and supervised literally thousands of physician recruitment projects over the years. More importantly was her compassionate approach to her client. She was assigned to the project specifically due to her nuanced understanding and her emphasis on relationally understanding the needs of her client. She is also known for getting the job done!

The full strength of the Arthur/Marshall team was enlisted and our 6-part recruitment program began with the onsite visit and consultation with the hospital and involved staff. A summary and documentation outlining the specifics of the search was certified by our client and recruitment work then began. A national branding and advertising campaign were initiated to accurately reflect the values and goals of the organization and its medical staff. This campaign included regular e-blasts, SMS campaigns, bulletins, research, telephonic sweeps and other resources to focus on 501-C3 nonprofit focused physicians.
Working closely with the selection committee, we worked to narrow a candidate pool to a handful of pre-screened and qualified physicians, basing our collective judgment not only on the potential cultural fit with our client but also the relevancy and immediacy of their experience working with similar healthcare enterprises. Our team conducted pre-interviews prior to on-site visits to better prepare our client and candidate to optimize each visit. Further, we vetted candidates based on the specific requirement of the organization.
Because of the pre-planning by the Arthur/Marshall team, final selection was made, an offer was extended, and the search was closed.
