In Memory of Justin Poynter: A Legacy of Dedication and Innovation

It is with heavy hearts that we remember and honor the life and legacy of Justin Poynter, a remarkable member of our Arthur Marshall family. Justin joined us on November 9, 2020, just as the world was emerging from the shadow of the COVID lockdowns. His journey with us began with a story of foresight and determination—qualities that would define his time here.

When Justin first interviewed with us in May 2020, he decided to take a role with a competitor instead. I remember telling him then that he would regret it, and that he would be calling us within six months. Four months later, Justin did just that. He returned, ready to make an impact—and what an impact he made.

In his very first month, Justin brought in three contracts, an impressive start by any measure. But it was what followed that truly set him apart. Over the next three years, from 2021 to 2023, Justin brought in nearly 100 contracts each year, earning the prestigious Apex Award as our top salesman three times in a row. He was on pace to win again this year before his untimely passing. Additionally, he was recognized as Marketer of the Quarter an astounding 14 out of 16 quarters.

Justin’s contributions went far beyond numbers. It was his relationship with Mark Murphy, President of Northeast Sequoia Private Client Group, that led to our introduction to Fortune Management, kicking off the largest and most successful alliance partnership in our history. From his very first interview, Justin had the vision to see potential in the dental market, a sector we had not fully tapped into. Together, we pushed the entire team to move in that direction. By 2024, 90% of our business was dental-related. Not content with just that, Justin also pioneered our entry into the veterinary segment, securing the first contract in 2023—a sector that now represents close to 7% of our business.

Justin was more than just a top performer; he was a visionary in the e-marketing space, bringing a unique and creative approach that revolutionized how we did business. His process, though complex, delivered consistent and outstanding results. It was so successful that we dedicated a portion of our new training to "Justin University," ensuring that his methods would continue to shape our future.

Despite his professional achievements, Justin's most extraordinary strength was his resilience. Just one month into his tenure at Arthur Marshall, I noticed a spot on his head that turned out to be Stage 4 melanoma. From that moment on, Justin embarked on a grueling journey, enduring countless surgeries, immunotherapies, and radiation treatments. Yet, through it all, he remained relentless in his pursuit of excellence. It was not uncommon for Justin to close a contract from a hospital bed or bring in new business while on vacation.

Through this challenging time, Justin was supported by his loving wife, Jess, who stood by his side with unwavering strength. He is also survived by three beautiful children: his son Jayden, daughter Jenelle, and his newest baby, William.

Justin's choice of the Pokémon theme song as his "walk-up music" spoke volumes about his character. It was a nod to the time he cherished with his son, Jayden, and it became the most played song on Arthur Marshall's Amazon Alexa account. He worked tirelessly, often staying late into the night, always striving to improve himself and the company he loved.

In honor of Justin’s extraordinary legacy, we have decided to rename our yearly Apex Award to the "Justin Poynter Memorial Apex Award." This award will be given to the recruiter and marketer who perseveres above all others to reach the "apex" of success, embodying the spirit and determination that Justin brought to our team every single day.

Justin was quirky, unique, and utterly irreplaceable. He touched the lives of everyone he worked with, leaving a legacy of innovation, dedication, and unwavering determination. We will miss him dearly, but his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.

Rest in peace, Justin. Your legacy will forever be a part of Arthur Marshall.
